The tradition of International weekend at Sandy Island began years ago as a cooperation between the International and Camping Services branches of the Greater Boston YMCA. Today the tradition continues with International families that have been coming to enjoy Sandy Island for years. As a pre-season event, Sandy Island will be operating with limited program staff. The program schedule is coordinated by long time returning campers. This weekend is a great way to experience the Island for those that aren’t able to attend during the regular camping season.

What are the Sandy Island cabins like?
The cabins at Sandy Island are simple and comfortable. All beds are twin size, and many cabins also have bunk beds. Cabins have electrical outlets and lights, screened windows, a small porch, chairs, clothes lines, and a few drawers for storage.
Do I have to bring linens?
Blankets (wool & cotton), pillows, and sheets are provided. You’ll need to bring your own bath towels, and beach towels if you want to swim.
How many people stay in each cabin?
Cabins differ in design and size, ranging from 1 to 10 guests.
Can I request a specific size cabin?
Yes! Cabin requests will be handled on first-paid, first-served basis. Let us know what you’re looking for.
Can I request a specific roommate(s)?
Absolutely! This may also be affected by cabin availability, but we’ll do our best to make it happen. The earlier you contact us with your request, the better.
What’s the bathroom/shower situation?
The vast majority of Sandy Island cabins have electricity, but no indoor plumbing. Central bath houses are located a short walk from all cabins. There are a limited number of cabins with shared bath facilities and individual rooms.
