Dear PVC, NW and Sandy Island Camp Families,
Thank you all for your patience as we worked through our options for the summer 2020 season.
It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision that we will not be operating our regular camping season North Woods, Pleasant Valley or Sandy Island.
This decision did not come lightly, we are so sorry and we know this news comes as a disappointment.
Although our camps will not open in 2020, that does not mean that we can’t do some great work together. We will be launching a major capital campaign to turn these “lemons into lemonade.” We will be looking forward to working with anyone willing to help us to make the best out of this situation. We will clean up our camps, do much needed work and repairs on cabins and buildings, and we will be “hitting the pavement,” working for funding, not just to help us make it through this year, but to make our camps the best they can be for years to come.
We will also be launching a virtual program called Y Campish to stay connected. One of the components that excites us is that we will be working with our staff to keep connections in small cabin groups over the summer. This will be open to all…we might even have some fun stuff for adults as well.
Please feel free to reach out to your camp director or myself if you have any questions.
We are so grateful for each and every one of you for your passion for camp. If this was your time coming to camp, thank you for trusting us with this important choice in life.
Although we would much rather have three camps bustling with people this summer, an opportunity to do some of the work we have been dreaming of doing is a silver lining that we hope you can also see.
Electing to roll your payment/deposit, holds your spot for 2021, and will lock in the rate you had this summer.
Please CLICK HERE to notify us on how you would like to manage your deposit & payments.
We will be in touch to be sure that we stay connected this summer. We think camp and the values we foster; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, as well as flexibility, mindfulness, strength, and connection are so important. We hope to be able to keep the gifts of camp alive with you.
We will be in touch as we know more about the possibility of volunteering later in the summer as well as defining and clarifying desired projects for improvements.
Please keep in touch and help us keep the spirit of Camp alive even we can’t be together at camp. Here is a SI video message from me to the Sandy Island Families and Here is a NW & PVC video message from me to the NW & PVC Families. When you have a minute we hope you can watch them.
All our best-
Kate Lemay and your Overnight Camp Team
