How much time off will I have?
Please refer to page 3 of the Standard Operating Procedures.
What is the weather like in New Hampshire in the summer?
Typically sunny, with temperatures between 70F and 90F. The evenings can be cool, especially at the beginning and end of the summer.
What should I bring with me?
Flashlight, swim suit, towel, something to read, camera, sun screen, bug spray, rain gear, sleeping bag, sneakers, water-friendly footwear (flip flops), water bottle, sweater.
Do I need to bring bedding?
North Woods and Pleasant Valley provide sheets, a blanket and a pillow for all international staff members. However, we recommend that everyone bring a sleeping bag.
Is there transportation for time off?
Yes. Daily transportation is provided to the nearby town of Wolfeboro.
Transportation to other destinations may be provided if camp program schedule permits.
Is there transportation at the end of camp?
A lot of staff members make plans to travel together after camp. However, we will provide transportation to the local bus stop at the end of the summer.
How will I cash my check?
We offer direct deposit as well transportation on time off to cash your check at a local bank.
Do I need a social security number?
American staff members must provide a social security number on their hiring paperwork. International staff members are welcome to apply for a social security number, however it is not necessary in order to receive the stipend.
Will I be living in with the campers or in staff accommodation?
Counselors reside in cabins with the campers.
Do we have a uniform?
There is no uniform, however you will be given a “staff shirt” which all counselors are expected to wear on the first day of each session.
Is there internet access available?
The local libraries of Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro have internet access.
How do international staff get to camp?
The agency through which you were hired (e.g., Camp America, CCUSA, Bunac) will provide you with information about getting to camp after arriving in New York. (All domestic staff are responsible for their own transportation. However, we will pick up or drop off at the local bus stop if needed.)
Do you have a specific health form I need to fill out or do you accept the one from my agency?
You only need to fill out the health from provided by the your agency.
